Puppy Care
Caring for Your 8–12 Week Old Puppy
The First 48 Hours
Keep things calm and close. Tiny puppies tire quickly — short play, long naps, and a warm, safe spot to sleep.
Feeding
Feed 4 small meals a day. Tiny breeds can get low blood sugar, so never let your puppy skip meals, and ask us or your vet about a sugar supplement for the first days home.
Potty Training
Take your puppy out first thing in the morning, after meals, after play, and before bed. Praise warmly every success.
Sleep & Crate
Puppies this age sleep most of the day. A small crate with soft bedding helps them feel safe and builds good habits.
Vet Visits
Your puppy leaves with their 1st shots, a vet check, and a health certificate. Book your own vet visit in the first week and stay on schedule for booster shots.
Socialization, Teething & Grooming
Introduce new sights, sounds, and gentle handling daily. Offer safe chew toys for teething, and brush the coat a few times a week to prevent mats.
Puppy-Proofing
Keep cords, small objects, and toxic foods (chocolate, grapes, xylitol, onions) out of reach.
Watch Out — Call Your Vet Right Away If You See
Not eating, vomiting or diarrhea, unusual tiredness or weakness, shaking, coughing, trouble breathing, or any sudden change in behavior. Tiny puppies should always be checked quickly.
